Divine’s Story

July 23rd, 2024

Born to a royal family in Nigeria, Divine’s childhood was filled with love, care, and attention. Early on, her parents, an engineer and a physician, emphasized the importance of education. In school, Divine thrived in science and math classes, winning numerous awards and scholarships, and was continually drawn to the healthcare field. She spent countless hours volunteering in healthcare camps and working with NGO’s to make healthcare more accessible to marginalized communities. Divine then went on to found her own NGO, orphanage, and daycare while receiving recognition from the United Nations for her efforts. In addition, she has been given an Ambassador for Peace award, a Nation Builder award, and a Mother Africa Merit award.  She was also appointed as National Adviser on Youth and Children’s Development Matters by the United Nations.

Now in Fredericton, Divine is applying her background and skills in our Personal Support Worker program. In the classroom, she is learning about topics such as cognitive and mental health issues, restorative care, and acute care. Divine will soon begin her clinical placement, where she will be able to further hone her skills as a Personal Support Worker and develop a stronger understanding of the role and Canadian healthcare. In the future, Divine hopes to open a long-term care home for the elderly while employing Eastern College graduates.
