Due to the increasing number of aging Canadians, Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are in high demand in Atlantic Canada. The need for PSWs is only expected to rise and create more career opportunities in the future. With this opportunity to touch people’s lives in a supportive and positive way and with a strong employment outlook, working as a PSW has never been more advantageous!

Right now, the New Brunswick government is providing funding to select healthcare facilities to train individuals who see themselves working in this meaningful and important role in Healthcare. Training is delivered by Eastern College in partnership with the chosen long-term care facilities.

Personal Support Worker Program

The Personal Support Worker Diploma program at Eastern College is approved by the National Association of Career Colleges and registered with the New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. The program trains students with the necessary tools and skills to deliver appropriate, timely, and respectful client-focused care. Students will develop competence in body systems, care planning, safety and mobility, assisting with medications, first aid, and more. Graduates will have the skills required to meet provincial standards so they can confidently start a new career as a Personal Support Worker.

  • 28-week program with classes offered remotely so you can study at home
  • Free Tuition (WorkingNB provides funding to the chosen facility)
  • Free Field Placement at the chosen facility
  • Eastern College Diploma and NACC Certificate
  • Employment on graduation

How to Participate

  • Complete the Admissions requirements. Must be a Canadian permanent resident or citizen to qualify.
  • Interview with the Healthcare facility
  • Enroll in the program!

The Kiwanis Nursing Home is a provincially licensed, community-based Home, located in central Sussex, New Brunswick. The Official Opening of the Kiwanis Nursing Home was conducted on June 1st, 1979, as a result of the hard work and dedication from the Kiwanis Club, the Nursing Home Committee, and the Provisional Board of Directors. Kiwanis is a non-profit corporation, offering Nursing Care and Support Service accommodations for 76 residents in Sussex and surrounding areas.
