MONCTON – On October 3, 2023, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development officially recognized Eastern College’s Early Childhood Education program. This recognition means that the program fulfills the training requirement outlined in Section 11 of the Licensing Regulation – Early Childhood Services Act. It also recognizes that our 66-week program is equivalent to a two-year Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Following this recognition, the Government of New Brunswick has also approved Eastern College’s Early Childhood Education program for international students, giving skilled graduates an opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in New Brunswick in key occupational areas.

“We’re thrilled to not only have our program formally recognized by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, but to also be able to offer our program to international students”, said Eastern College President Stuart Bentley. “This will allow us to meet the growing demand in the Early Childhood Education field in New Brunswick.”

Throughout the 66-week Early Childhood Education program, students study topics such as Math & Science for Young Children, Positive Child Guidance, and Prevention, Intervention, and Reporting to prepare them to help enrich the lives of children. Over the course of a 13-week field placement, students will apply their knowledge and skills so that they can graduate with the hands-on skills that employers need. Students can expect to graduate with the skills they need for a rewarding career at the intersection of education and children’s development.
