HALIFAX – Eastern College is proud to announce that it is a founding member of the CEO Climate Action Charter. Launched by the Halifax Regional Municipality and Halifax Partnership, the charter calls for private organizations to pledge to better protect the environment. Along with organizations such as Dalhousie University, Deloitte, and Nova Scotia Power, Eastern College is committed to increasing the city of Halifax’s environmental sustainability and embedding climate goals within the College’s values and culture.
“The advancement of climate action is much needed and each organization can take steps to ensure that we’re working towards a better environment” said Eastern College President Stuart Bentley. “We’re proud to stand alongside some of the most influential organizations and businesses in Halifax to play a key role in creating a more environmentally sustainable city.”
Signatories of the charter pledge to be part of the climate solution by empowering people to be climate leaders, learning and adapting through sharing best practices, and by acting as climate action innovators by supporting new ideas and initiatives. The ten pledges of the charter signify Eastern College’s support of the green economy and commitment to the sustainability of Halifax and the surrounding area, as well as its commitment to collaborating with business and municipal leaders to making climate action part of the College’s business and operational decisions.
