As Jason Eckert, Dean of Technology, describes: in addition to being proficient in desktop, server, and network technologies, the modern system administrator must also have a solid understanding of computer security and automation, as well as be able to troubleshoot issues quickly and communicate effectively to users. In many ways, the modern system administrator is the superhero of the IT world. Through courses like PC Support, Windows 10 Administration, Linux Administration, and Security Fundamentals, you’ll build a solid foundation in essential IT concepts.

In addition to technical training in PC & Windows Administration and Network & Linux Administration, the program includes Preparatory Studies to help you excel as both a student and a future job seeker. In this module, you will create and refine your résumé and LinkedIn Profile. You will write cover letters and learn the value of customizing cover letters to specific job postings. You will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge as you conduct a job search and write a cover letter tailored to an ideal job post. Through research, you will create a list of top employers and target current industry opportunities. You will learn about current methods for applying to job postings using technology. You will also gain an understanding of the job interview process, typical interview questions and possible responses, and expectations of both the interviewer and interviewee. In addition, you will engage in practical application of the interview process through role-play. Topics such as negotiating salary, self-management, and on-the-job success for placements and post-graduate employment will be also covered.

This course introduces the skills and knowledge necessary to install, configure and support Microsoft Windows client operating systems, and covers the concepts tested on the Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate certification exam. More specifically, students learn how to deploy and upgrade Windows clients, as well as configure storage, access, devices, network connectivity and security. Additionally, students learn how to administer systems using PowerShell, as well as leverage online resources and AI tools to generate PowerShell scripts.

  • Student has Grade 12 or equivalent or meets criteria for Mature Student Status.
  • Mature students must be 19 years of age, pass a qualifying test, and provide a Letter of Intent OR resume that supports their skills and aptitudes to be successful in the program.
  • The approved qualifying test for this program is the Wonderlic test. A passing score for this program is 18.
