Qualifying Areas of Study for International Students

International students are warmly welcomed to enroll in any diploma program offered at Eastern College’s campuses in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

As a private career college, we’re thrilled to provide international graduates of select programs at our New Brunswick campuses with the opportunity to apply for the New Brunswick Private Career College Graduate Pilot upon graduation. This immigration pathway is designed for graduates of one- and two-year programs in priority fields, including Education and Social Development, Health, IT and Cybersecurity, Business Administration, and Supply Chain and Logistics. For graduates of private institutions who may not qualify for the federal Post-Graduation Work Permit Program, this pathway offers a chance to work, live, and obtain permanent residency in New Brunswick.

Meanwhile, Nova Scotia’s Provincial Nominee Program has expanded its International Graduates in Demand stream to include pharmacy technicians. Pharmacy Technician program graduates are now eligible to apply for both a work permit and permanent residency even before gaining work experience. Pharmacy technicians play a crucial role in Canada’s healthcare system, supporting licensed pharmacists in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medications to patients. Eastern College’s Pharmacy Technician program, accredited by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2027, is offered at our Halifax campus. Our classrooms mirror real-world pharmacy settings and are equipped with industry-standard tools.

Other immigration streams in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia include the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), a federal pathway to permanent residency for skilled workers and international graduates in Atlantic Canada, the Skilled Worker Stream, a provincial pathway for foreign nationals and the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots. The programs prioritize sectors such as healthcare, education, and construction.

Please note: Immigration pathways such as the New Brunswick Private Career College Graduate Pilot, the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program, Home Care Worker Pilots, Skilled Worker Stream and the Atlantic Immigration Program are regulated at the federal and provincial level. Eastern College must comply with all provincial rules and regulations and abide by any changes outlined by the New Brunswick and Nova Scotia governments.
